Hilary Lake (she/they)

MDiv, RSMT/E Somatic Movement Therapist and Educator

I call myself a healing arts community minister and I support people to align with their bodies and values in nourishing and creative ways.

I graduated from Harvard Divinity School with an MDiv in Buddhist Ministry. While I was studying, I woke up to the joy and wonder that I felt while dancing and singing like I had known as a child. I found inspiration and hope through learning to honor my inner child while continuing to reconnect to myself and the family of life with the support of Earth based traditions and practices. Now my focus is to help people connect with our inner nature to feel greater belonging and awaken our innate gifts of creative expression. As a trauma informed somatic movement therapist and educator, I invite people into an intimate relationship with themselves and the Earth through the elements that are a part of every world tradition in some way, and which connect us all.

My experience includes working at the Fetzer Institute that promotes the power of love and forgiveness to change the world. I’ve also spent significant time living abroad in Asia studying and practicing Buddhism. I’ve studied with many teachers from different indigenous and non-indigenous lineages. I honor them all and am learning about my own Celtic and Slavic indigenous lineages as well. I’m certified in Somatic Body Training, Infinity Healing Practice and Walking in Balance an indigenous created and led reconciliation council practice and have been an interfaith chaplain in an inner-city hospital. I was also recently trained as a birth and postpartum doula with DONA International.

I’m committed to living justice as loving awareness in action as I welcome people of all experiences and backgrounds into mindful embodiment practices that bring connection and aliveness into our whole lives. I do this through offering one-on-one sessions, events, classes, performances and retreats. You can learn more at hilarylake.com
