Overview: The Feldenkrais Method®: Moving with Comfort and Power

Developed by Israeli physicist, engineer, and martial artist Moshe Feldenkrais, Awareness Through Movement® lessons:

  • support recovery from injury
  • engender vibrant aging
  • nurture simple everyday comfort and zest

Both gentle and powerful, these lessons allow unnecessary tension to drop out so the full natural vitality to which we are born can emerge.

Cost

$75 for one monthly series of three classes.  The class requires a minimum of 6 registrations. If the minimum isn’t met, those who have registered will receive a refund.

October 2024: Holding Your Breath

Our breath responds flexibly to our activities throughout the day. We are born to that responsiveness, but everyday stresses tend to shut it down. Awareness Through Movement® lessons reawaken options for adapting breath to action – from moment to moment – with flexibility and power.

November 2024: Walking on This Earth

Walking – standing on one leg, then the other – is a form of learning and re-learning balance, moment to moment. This series of lessons highlights the liveliness of the bones of the foot, their power for forward impetus, and the lively support that translates up through the whole skeleton to move us comfortably and powerfully through the world.

December 2024: Calming the Nervous System

In the midwinter comes a time of increasing darkness and a time for settling in. It’s a time for nurturing our nervous system’s deep capacity for rest and rejuvenation. In this series of lessons, gentle repetitive movements signal comfort, safety, and restorative repose.
